Newest feature which is added on Pinterest and it’s not just another tool for promoting pins. It’s about creating, joining and building communities on specific topics, ideas, categories and more.

The community feature can be understood with this single statement: Pinterest Communities have (in a way) made Pinterest an engaging social platform + search engine.
Yes, that’s right. Pinterest is also a social platform.
Communities will have people sharing things on similar topics or what that community is about.
Your communities can be categories of blog, blogging niche or a certain topic you like. Anything like: Blog Tips, Social Media, Beauty, Fashion, Recipes, Parenting & more.
Before we know how to make your community on Pinterest, let’s know some amazing and essential things about them.
Important things about Pinterest Communities:
- · Communities on Pinterest are different than Pinterest boards as members could also share in community.
- · Weird yet Wonderful- No Pinterest Communities can have same names/titles. This means once name is taken by other person, another Community cannot be created with exact name. If “Bloggers” is taken, create something similar like “Blogging Tips”.
- · “Sticky Post” option lets the creator/admin of community to pin the most important or interesting post on top of other posts in community.
- · Communities will help in building loyal audience for bloggers and marketers.
- · Pinterest Communities will be more engaging than boards because people can like, comment on what you post.
- · It’s not made simply for promoting own pins and content. It’s about sharing other people’s work, and being engaged in the community.
- · No Spamming! After joining communities do not promote own content constantly and follow rules.
How to get the Pinterest Community feature on Pinterest Profile?
Surprisingly, the feature won’t be updated automatically in Pinterest application (currently). You must unlock it and get this feature in app.
To get that Pinterest Tab, you must join minimum 1 Pinterest Community. You can join one here and get the Community feature on profile and make community right now.
After joining 1 Community (or join many) Pinterest app will show new tab having little icon which symbolizes the “Community” feature. Congrats! You unlocked it.
Now, it may take some time for this icon to appear and to use features of Pinterest Communities. Once it’s done, you’ll see Community feature on both laptop/desktop and mobile app for Pinterest.
How to Create Pinterest Community?
For creating one, you must have “Community” tab on Pinterest profile. You will get the tab only after joining minimum 1 community here.
Creating Pinterest Community on Mobile:
Once community tab starts showing on app, click on it. You could see communities which you have already joined and recommended ones too.
Click on the “+” sign on right corner.
Enter the name/ title of community, Cover picture, description and click on create. Change description and cover later if required.
If name is available the community will be created & if not, it will show something like this:
Don’t worry. If particular community name is taken by others, decide another name and create the community.
Creating Pinterest Community on Desktop/Laptop:
After getting community tab, profile shows it on top bar and below your profile details like so. To create, click on “community” in top row.
Follow the steps similar to the above (like creating through mobile) and make Pinterest Community.
How to join Pinterest communities?
Click on community icon and you’ll have few recommended ones. “Search Communities” option is available only on desktop version so you could find by typing there.
How many communities I can make?
There is not a confirm number from Pinterest. But 2 communities is currently what’s being heard all around. Even in community created by Pinterest, the recommended number is 2.
How many communities you can join?
There is no number for it as yet. So it’s best to join those communities you like.
